International Dignitaries Rally for a New Iran Policy, Support NCRI as Democratic Alternative

Image
Written by Shamsi Saadati Paris, France  – On Saturday, May 17, 2025, an influential international conference convened in Paris, uniting parliamentarians and prominent political figures from a wide array of countries including the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, Malta, Switzerland, Romania, Portugal, and the Netherlands. The central theme of the gathering was the urgent need for a new, decisive international policy towards Iran, with a strong emphasis on supporting democratic change and recognizing the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) as a viable alternative to the current regime. The event served as a significant platform for global lawmakers to voice their concerns over the deteriorating human rights situation in Iran, the regime’s escalating domestic repression, its destabilizing regional activities, and its persistent pursuit of a nuclear program. A recurring call throughout the conference was for Western governments to adopt a firmer stance, including the ...

Countering Iran’s Threat, Strategies for Regional Stability

Image
Written by Mahmoud Hakamian Two-minute read On Sunday morning, April 14, the Iranian regime launched an unprecedented attack against Israel, escalating tensions in the Middle East. Despite military experts’ assessments that the attack failed, it underscores  Iran’s role as a focal point  of regional conflict. The October 7th attack sent shockwaves globally. Despite ample evidence implicating the Iranian regime, Western governments dismissed Tehran’s involvement, adhering to a flawed appeasement policy toward the primary state sponsor of terrorism. They disregarded explicit statements from Revolutionary Guards  (IRGC) commanders boasting  about their direct role in the attack. For decades, the Iranian Resistance has urged the international community to adopt a resolute stance against the Iranian regime’s aggression and terrorism. Despite persistent calls, the failed appeasement policy of the West allowed Tehran to escalate its belligerent activities, including ...

Iran Grapples with Public Anxiety and Fiscal Crisis, Tightens Censorship in Wake of Israel Attack

Image
Written by Mansoureh Galestan Two-minute read In the aftermath of  a precedented strike  by the clerical regime on Israeli territory, Iran’s currency market finds itself plunged into unprecedented chaos. The assault, launched under the cover of Saturday night, has sent shockwaves through financial corridors, with the price of the dollar skyrocketing from 67,000 beyond 70,000 Iranian tomans, thrusting the market into a state of insecurity. As tensions reverberate across the nation, media censorship tightens its grip, stifling the flow of information and exacerbating public anxiety. Meanwhile, scenes of chaos unfold at fuel stations across the country, as lengthy queues snake through the streets, reflecting the widespread apprehension gripping the population. Reports emerging from inside Iran paint a picture of mounting pressure on currency exchanges, with some brokers facing the specter of arrest and closure. Meanwhile, the  digital currency Tether,  mirroring ...

EU Policy on Iran — a Legacy of Failure

Image
By Struan Stevenson When Assadollah Assadi, the Iranian ‘diplomat’ jailed for 20 years in Belgium for a terrorist bomb plot, was released in a farcical deal with the Iranian regime and returned to a hero’s welcome in Tehran, many thought the EU’s appeasement policy had reached rock bottom. Warnings were sounded that the release of Assadi would embolden the mullahs to attempt a further bomb attack or assassination attempt on European soil. The warnings were ignored and sure enough, in November 2023, a hitman financed by the Iranian regime attempted to assassinate Alejo Vidal Qudras, a former senior vice president of the European Parliament. Mr Vidal Qudras was shot in the face, in broad daylight, outside his home in Madrid. He miraculously survived. Following Assadi’s arrest for attempting to bomb an Iranian opposition rally in Paris in 2018, Spanish socialist Josep Borrell, the EU’s high Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security said nothing. When Assadi was sentenced to a ...

California Legislature Majority Declares Support for Iranian Uprising and Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan

Image
Written by Shamsi Saadati Forty-two members of the  California Legislature  have signed letters expressing their support for the recent uprising of the Iranian people and endorsing Mrs. Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan for the future of Iran. Among these signatories are 28 Democratic representatives and 14 Republican representatives from California’s 80-member legislature. These representatives highlight that the Iranian people reject both monarchical dictatorship and religious despotism. The majority of California representatives underscore that the American people stand behind the Iranian people’s aspirations for a democratic, non-nuclear republic in Iran, characterized by the separation of religion and state, as well as a foreign policy based on peaceful coexistence. They further state that the steadfast solidarity of the American people with their Iranian counterparts is evident through the overwhelming endorsement by the majority in the United States House of Represe...

Iran’s Presidential Meltdown

Image
By Struan Stevenson Thirty-five years ago this month, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, issued a fatwa, ordering the massacre of more than 30,000 political prisoners in prisons all across Iran. It was a crime against humanity and one of the worst acts of malicious butchery since the end of WWII. The majority of those executed, in August 1988, were members or supporters of the main democratic opposition movement, the Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK). They were mostly young, well-educated, Iranian men and women. Some had been imprisoned for supporting the MEK and had been released after serving their sentences. They were re-arrested in their thousands and subjected to arbitrary 3-minute trials in which they were asked a single question: “Do you still support the MEK?” If they answered “Yes” they were immediately sent for execution. Batches of six at a time, including even pregnant women, were hanged in prison gymnasiums. Their bodies were then buri...

Iran: The Failure Of Raisi’s Two-Year Presidency – OpEd

Image
By Shamsi Saadati Two years ago, around this time, Ali Khamenei, the supreme leader of Iran’s regime, appointed Ebrahim Raisi as his regime’s president and called it a “completely meaningful move.” “New people are entering into a field with new initiatives,” he said. The goal was to unify the government to deal with resistance and uprising. But after last year’s nationwide uprising, the regime’s dream turned into nightmare, to the extent that many regime loyalists and the members of the Majlis (parliament) denounced the “failure of unified governance” and officially requested Raisi to resign. On May 3, the state-run Jahan-e Sanat newspaper wrote, ” The current government is the weakest after the [1979] revolution. With such a degrading record, no room is left any more to defend or support it, and we see no one defending this government.” The regime’s media is filled with fear from the inefficiency of the government and the prospect of the regime’s downfall. On August 1, the state...

Beware Russia and Iran – partners in war crimes

Image
By Struan Stevenson Stephen King, the famous American author, wrote: “Killing children for God, or ideology, or both – no hell could be hot enough for those who’d do such things”. It could be a fitting epitaph for Vladimir Putin and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, two partners in crime and mass murder. As Russia and Iran gradually consolidate their relationship, the foundation stones for this pariah alliance are clear to see. The dominant factor is a mutual hatred of the West and in particular America. Both countries have been subjected to tough international sanctions. Both have engaged in real or perceived nuclear threats against the West. Both regard the Middle East as an area of key geopolitical importance. Iran has sought for years to become the main player in Middle East Shi’ite politics, funding Bashar al-Assad’s brutal civil war in Syria, backing the Houthi rebels in Yemen, controlling the Shi’ia militias in Iraq, financing the terrorist Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza. Ru...

Maryam Rajavi attends the hearing of the Italian Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee Parliament

Image
At noon on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, Maryam Rajavi arrived at Italy’s Chamber of Deputies to participate in a hearing hosted by the Foreign Affairs Committee. The focus of the committee’s discussion was the issue of Iran, and they had extended a special invitation to Maryam Rajavi as a distinguished guest. Upon her arrival at the parliament,  Maryam Rajavi  received a warm welcome from Senator Giulio Terzi, as well as a group of MPs and Senators. Additionally, a gathering of Iranians had assembled outside the parliament to extend their welcome to her. During her address at the hearing, Maryam Rajavi provided a comprehensive overview of the situation in Iran. She said. “The present situation in Iran is characterized by three key elements: First, we witness the  Iranian people ’s courageous protests and uprisings to overthrow the mullahs’ regime. Second, the activities of the organized Resistance inside  Iran  have expanded significantly. And third, it is e...

UK leads the way in ending appeasement of Iran

Image
By Struan Stevenson ON 13th July, in a plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, a French member, Nathalie Loiseau MEP, launched a vicious tirade against the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and the People’s Mojahedin of Iran/ Mojahedin-e Khalq (PMOI/MEK), the main democratic opposition to the mullahs’ fascist theocratic regime. Her onslaught contained all of the usual propaganda that is regularly trotted out by the mullahs. It was the latest prime example of EU appeasement policy towards the Iranian regime. It seems clear that Loiseau, who is a member of Macron’s party and a former French cabinet minister, was instructed to do this by the Élysée Palace, where President Macron is nursing his anger over his defeat in the French courts at the beginning of the month, when his attempt to ban a mass opposition rally by the NCRI was thwarted. Macron will be desperate to point to some success in his appeasement policy, to try to pacify the Iranian presi...
