International Dignitaries Rally for a New Iran Policy, Support NCRI as Democratic Alternative

Image
Written by Shamsi Saadati Paris, France  – On Saturday, May 17, 2025, an influential international conference convened in Paris, uniting parliamentarians and prominent political figures from a wide array of countries including the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, Malta, Switzerland, Romania, Portugal, and the Netherlands. The central theme of the gathering was the urgent need for a new, decisive international policy towards Iran, with a strong emphasis on supporting democratic change and recognizing the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) as a viable alternative to the current regime. The event served as a significant platform for global lawmakers to voice their concerns over the deteriorating human rights situation in Iran, the regime’s escalating domestic repression, its destabilizing regional activities, and its persistent pursuit of a nuclear program. A recurring call throughout the conference was for Western governments to adopt a firmer stance, including the ...

Tehran’s truckers join strike at the capital’s terminal

Image
BY  JOLIEKAVAR Just this morning in the capital’s truckload terminal the situation for authorities got out of control as drivers declared their working rights. A lot of noise could be heard from the video that was put on Telegram as a large crowd filled the passage inside the terminal. Young drivers backed each other and chanted, “do not be afraid – we are all as one”. Instantly the crowd began to call on the store owners and merchants to close down their shops in respect to the ongoing strike since May 22. Only an hour later a video came in showing all the stores closed and the terminal left empty. Also, coming thru on the internet are Iranian drivers stationed in Georgia, who are refusing to load their refrigerated trucks and tell their fellow drivers in Iran that they stand with them. The real reasons Tehran is obsessed with Israel

Image
By DR. MAJID RAFIZADEH If you listen to Iranian politicians, the speeches of the Supreme Leader or Friday prayers in Iran, or study its state-controlled newspapers and other media, you will notice that hardly a day passes without the Iranian regime lashing out at Israel, which it commonly refers to as the “Little Satan.” Some policy analysts argue this suggests two things; that Iran and Israel are natural enemies, and that the enmity is caused by the Iranian leaders’ determination to support the Palestinian people. Apologists for the regime frequently point to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s claim that Tehran’s animosity toward Israel is solely to help the “oppressed”  Palestinians.  These arguments fail to reveal the strategic, geopolitical, historic and ideological reality. When the ruling clerics of Iran came to power in 1979, Iran-Israel relations shifted dramatically. Before the Iranian revolution, Israel and Tehran enjo...

Iran: Nationwide Truck Drivers Strike Spreads to More Cities

Image
Iran Uprising - No. 165 On Friday, May 25th, the  nationwide strike by heavy truck drivers continued in Iran  for the fourth day. The strike has spread to 177 cities in 29 provinces in the country. On Thursday, minibus and taxi drivers in some cities, including in Shiraz and Yazd, joined the nationwide strike. Striking drivers demand an increase in their salary, retirement after 25 years of service, reduction in tariffs, as well as a commission, which the regime's agents at each terminal impose at their own discretion, without any specific frameworks. Also they demand an end to crackdown on drivers by State Security Forces. On Friday, in a number of cities, the strikers neutralized efforts by the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards for countering the strike by putting some fuel IRGC escorted tankers. Strikers in cities including Abarghoo in Yazd province, Benrood and Kafrood in Isfahan province, Saleh Abad in Hamedan province, foiled the conspiracy of the re...

Expanded Strategy Opens Doors To Weakening Tehran, Promoting Iranian Dissidents

Image
By IVAN SASCHA SHEEHAN Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has laid out a new strategy for dealing with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and it predictably adds to the assertiveness that has defined the Trump administration’s approach since day one. That approach was certainly on display earlier in the month when the president announced withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal, but doing so only opened the door for nuclear-related sanctions to rejoin a package of terror-related sanctions that Trump had already expanded over the preceding months. Setting aside the question of the nuclear deal, the administration’s broader effort to constrain the Islamic Republic and to publicize its malign behaviors is a much-needed step in the right direction. The president’s sanctions strategy finally put into practice an appropriately expansive view of culpability for Iran’s human rights violations and financing of terrorist proxies. Regardless of what anyone thinks of other aspects of Trump’...

Iran: No One Acknowledges the Concerns of Workers

Image
By ncr-iran Staff  “How do I spend millions of Tomans on my medication when I can’t even afford my food?” How much pension does a retiree even get, to have to spend 400000 to 500000 Toman (95 to 120 $) on medications alone, just to “stand on own feet” and avoid paralysis? These are the concerns of a pensioner who would be dependent on a “wheelchair” if he doesn’t receive his injections in time. According to an article published on 23rd April 2018 by the Iranian Labour News Agency (ILNA), a pensioner named Morteza Asadi says: “Dear Minister of Health, how could you claim that the prices of the pharmaceuticals were going to remain the same when that clearly hasn’t been the case? you must be held accountable for your false claims. Why do you lie so much? why do you want to continue deceiving people for so long? ...” He continued: “how can I afford my expensive medications? how do you expect a pensioner like me, with just 400000 to 500000 Toman a month, to stand on ...

Iran's occupation of the Middle East

Image
By Nikoo Amini The Iranian regime has two "main characteristics."  The first is exporting terrorism and warmongering.  The second is the brutal repression of the Iranian people. In truth, at the present time, especially after Iran's nuclear deal failure, the Iranian regime in its entirety is invested in its extensive meddling in the Middle East. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) plays the leading role in fueling major wars in the Middle East, including the current wars in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and Lebanon. The IRGC started its strategy of meddling in the region in 1990, following the establishment of the Quds Force.  The regime's inner circles describe the Quds Force, considered an official IRGC unit, as the "center of an international Islamic army." The Iranian regime's embassies in most Arabic and Islamic countries, especially Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Afghanistan, are specifically controlled by the IRGC, and all are...

Understanding the US policy on Iran in light of Pompeo speech

Image
By Heshmat Alavi Dedicating his first foreign policy speech to the grave subject of Iran, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo outlined the Trump administration’s new strategy vis-à-vis Iran on Monday, coming shortly after President Trump announced the US would withdraw from the Obama-era nuclear deal. Speaking at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C., Secretary Pompeo vividly explained how the US administrations is standing alongside the Iranian people and their aspirations for freedom and democracy, especially the ongoing protests across the country. The new strategy encompasses “a new security architecture” extending beyond Tehran’s nuclear program to also include its missile technology, support for terrorism and actions in Syria, Yemen, Iraq and Lebanon, amongst other countries.
