We welcome them. Mr. Secretary, Welcome to the Home of the Iranian Resistance. We are delighted to host you in the early days of the New Year. I hope this year will be a successful year for the people of the United States and a year of freedom, peace and prosperity for our people and the entire Middle East. Afghan MP accuses Iran’s regime of arming Taliban

Analysis by PMOI/MEK

July 29, 2018 - Afghan media are citing Karameldinne Rida Zadah, an MP representing the country’s Ghor Province, accusing the Iranian regime of arming the Taliban.
The Afghan Taliban are using Iran-made weaponry in their attacks on Afghan authorities, continuing to endanger security and peace throughout this war-ravaged country and prolonging an already 17-year long conflict.

Local authorities in Ghor Province found Iran-made weaponry and munitions at the possession of a captured Taliban member. The insurgency has intensified in the past two weeks as the Taliban is seen increasing their attacks on government troops west of Firozkoh, the capital city of Ghor Province.

In May of this year, Afghan police had accused the Iranian regime of supplying weapons to the Taliban in Farah Province in western Afghanistan bordering Iran. Authorities went on to declare the battle over and the defeat of Taliban units in that particular region.
“Iran supplies and arms the Taliban to spread chaos across the province,” said Farah Province police chief Alfazel Ahmed Shirzad. The Iran-made weaponry was found in the area after Taliban fighters were forced to retreat, he added.
Pakita Province is another region of Afghanistan where authorities have announced the finding of Iran-made arms.
In April, US Ambassador to Afghanistan issued a statement accusing Iran of providing logistical support to the Taliban through its Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

Farah Province authorities also accused the IRGC back in December 2017 of joining the Taliban’s armed insurgency in this province.
Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour was killed on May 21 by an American drone in Pakistan while returning from Iran, based on reports at the time.
A passport with a valid Iranian visa for a Pakistani male under the name of Wali Mohammad was found at the site of the attack, according to the Pakistani Foreign Ministry at the time.
