Tehran in Meltdown as Israel Decapitates Hamas and Hezbollah

By Struan Stevenson Conflagration engulfs the Middle East, with the Israel-Hamas war having gone on for more than a year now, and many Israeli hostages are still being held in deplorable conditions by Hamas terrorists. In Northern Israel, constant missile and rocket attacks by Hezbollah led to the mass evacuation of more than 70,000 Israelis from their homes in 2024 and to the inevitable military retaliation by the Israel Defense Forces, as they crossed the border into Southern Lebanon. Israeli missiles are raining down on key Hezbollah targets in Beirut. The assassination of Hezbollah’s terrorist leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut, a seismic event, shattered his close friend and ally Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader and Hezbollah’s main sponsor. Nasrallah’s successor, Hashem Saffieddine, was also killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut within hours of being nominated for the Hezbollah leadership role and before the funeral of his predecessor had even taken place. Iran Does Not Have the Leverage It Thinks It Has

Iran Focus
London, 24 July - Relations between the United States and Iran heated up over the weekend. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned that war with Iran would be “the mother of all wars”. He said: “America should know that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace, and war with Iran is the mother of all wars.”

U.S. President Donald Trump warned Iran that he will not allow such threats to be made. His anger was evident in his message on social media that he posted in block capitals. His message on Twitter read: “To Iranian President Rouhani: NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE. WE ARE NO LONGER A COUNTRY THAT WILL STAND FOR YOUR DEMENTED WORDS OF VIOLENCE & DEATH. BE CAUTIOUS!”
The whole situation is reminiscent of the tweets that were posted regarding Kim Jong-un in which Trump threatened to destroy his command. However, since then, the two leaders have gone on to have positive discussions.
However, the North Korea situation is very different to the one in Iran. For one, Iran does not have a nuclear weapon. Yet. So, for now Iran has much less leverage that North Korea ever did. Furthermore, Iran does not have a strong ally in the way that North Korea had China.
The United States is in the stronger position and Iran is either deluded or ignorant. Either way, it is very clear that talks and diplomacy will never make Iran’s behaviour more moderate. This is why the Trump administration is taking major steps to put pressure on Iran.
Firstly, President Trump announced that the United States would be exiting the 2015 nuclear deal and that the sanctions that were lifted would once again apply. Furthermore, the Trump administration announced that fresh sanctions would be issued.
Then, the U.S. State Department announced that it wants foreign countries to stop buying Iranian oil. It confirmed that the administration is determined to get as many countries as possible to reduce their Iranian oil purchases to zero by November this year.
Iran is in the middle of a major economic crisis and the sanctions have not even taken effect yet (the first ones will be in place next month). Iran’s currency has lost half of its value in less than 12 months. Multi-national companies are pulling out of major business deals with Iran.
To top it all off, the people of Iran have been protesting since the major uprising in December last year. They are making their discontent heard loud and clear and they are determined for change. They are calling on the Mullahs to leave Syria where it has been involved for years.
The Trump administration is applying as much financial pressure against Iran as it can and it is supported by U.S. allies in the region including Israel and Saudi Arabia. The Trump administration has the advantage right now and it needs to make the most of it.
