By Struan Stevenson Conflagration engulfs the Middle East, with the Israel-Hamas war having gone on for more than a year now, and many Israeli hostages are still being held in deplorable conditions by Hamas terrorists. In Northern Israel, constant missile and rocket attacks by Hezbollah led to the mass evacuation of more than 70,000 Israelis from their homes in 2024 and to the inevitable military retaliation by the Israel Defense Forces, as they crossed the border into Southern Lebanon. Israeli missiles are raining down on key Hezbollah targets in Beirut. The assassination of Hezbollah’s terrorist leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut, a seismic event, shattered his close friend and ally Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader and Hezbollah’s main sponsor. Nasrallah’s successor, Hashem Saffieddine, was also killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut within hours of being nominated for the Hezbollah leadership role and before the funeral of his predecessor had even taken place. Shajarian’s brilliant work and record are everlasting and among the most precious treasures of our national art. The ruling mullahs’ restrictions and pressures have not and will never undermine his status and his enormous contributions to Iran’s art and music scene, particularly the art of singing. Without a doubt, Iran’s arts community and those who care about Iran’s music will build upon his contributions, teachings, and unique innovations as never before and will add to Iran’s unrivaled treasures of arts and culture. Mr. Shajarian’s vocals have been warmly received in the hearts of millions of Iranians for several generations and cannot be extinguished.”

Shajarian, a committed singer and composer, has been more prominent than any other musician in the last half century, both inside and outside Iran.

As a national figure, he had difficult relations with Tehran officials during his long life, first during the Shah's reign and then during the mullahs' regime.

Shajarian had said that his songs are always related to the political and social situation of the country. He was protesting against the regime.

Professor Shajarian:

Follow our history and you will see that there have been wars, killings, misery, oppression and tyranny all over it. We have not reached democracy yet.

Master Shajarian's funeral under strict security conditions and the widespread presence of repressive security forces:

The funeral of Professor Mohammad Reza Shajarian was held in Ferdowsi Mausoleum in the presence of his family and his body was buried.

There were crowds outside the tomb, but the regime surrounded the security of the cemetery with a large number of officers and did not allow people to approach it, and people were not allowed to enter the inner courtyard of Ferdowsi Tomb and the burial site.

Security officers blocked the entrances to Mashhad and Toos. From last night, these forces extensively returned the people who were on their way to the funeral of Master Shajarian from other cities to their cities for the funeral.

Internet disruption at Master Shajarian's burial place:

The mullahs' regime, in fear of the publication of pictures of Master Shajarian's funeral and the large presence of the people, severely disrupted and cut off the Internet in the area of Ferdowsi's tomb.

The regime is terrified of the presence of the people at the funeral of Professor Shajarian and the creation of a severe security atmosphere in Mashhad and Toos:

People gathered at Shajarian's burial ground in Tus and waited for the body of Master Shajarian to arrive for burial.

The regime's repressive forces tried to disperse the population, but the population grew by the minute Suppressive forces of the Special Forces were deployed in the surrounding streets and gardens to respond to the protests and anger of the people.

Fearing the presence of the people, the clerical regime limited Master Shajarian's funeral to 150 people.

But with all the security measures, the presence of the people was significant

The people pledged to him that they would not give up their struggle until they achieved freedom.

Shajarian is a master of Iranian music and a freedom fighter who became immortal in the hearts and minds of Iranians and the Iranian resistance.
