Countering Iran’s Threat, Strategies for Regional Stability

Image
Written by Mahmoud Hakamian Two-minute read On Sunday morning, April 14, the Iranian regime launched an unprecedented attack against Israel, escalating tensions in the Middle East. Despite military experts’ assessments that the attack failed, it underscores  Iran’s role as a focal point  of regional conflict. The October 7th attack sent shockwaves globally. Despite ample evidence implicating the Iranian regime, Western governments dismissed Tehran’s involvement, adhering to a flawed appeasement policy toward the primary state sponsor of terrorism. They disregarded explicit statements from Revolutionary Guards  (IRGC) commanders boasting  about their direct role in the attack. For decades, the Iranian Resistance has urged the international community to adopt a resolute stance against the Iranian regime’s aggression and terrorism. Despite persistent calls, the failed appeasement policy of the West allowed Tehran to escalate its belligerent activities, including financing, arming, train

Iran's Suicide Rate on the Rise

Image
NCRI - A brief look at suicide statistics reflected in Iranian regime’s media and the comments made by state officials on the causes of suicide in recent months, especially among women and youth, reveals that the scourge is turning into a national disaster and a real crisis. Self-immolation and attempting suicide by women, men, and youth overwhelmed by poverty, oppression, discrimination, and inequality, and pushed to express their protest about the current conditions in the most tragic and painful way. The disaster has become so widespread that some state officials refer to it as an epidemic. According to state media, suicide attempt among women has risen 66 percent over the past five years. The figure is 71 percent among men over the same period. The figures also show that suicide among women has increased over the past decade. Meanwhile, a regime’s expert believes that increased number of suicide attempts in public among youth, teens, and women is because they look at i

Iran: Expressing Condolences & Sympathy With the Quake-Stricken People, Encouraging Youth to Help the Injured

president-elect of the Iranian Resistance, expressed her condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in the last night earthquake in different areas, including Qasr-e Shirin, Islamabad, Sar-e pol Zahab, Salas Babajani and Kerend. Reiterating the criminal background of the mullahs’ regime’s neglect and irresponsibility to save the people’s lives in such incidents, Mrs. Rajavi asked the youth, especially those in western provinces, to rescue the people who are trapped under debris, and to deliver their aids directly to the stricken people and the injured. She added that just opposite to the Velayat-e faqih regime, it is now a time of solidarity, and helping the stricken people and saving them is a sacred national duty. In fear of the people’s anger, the clerical regime is trying to cover the real dimensions of the material damages and casualties of this earthquake that completely destroyed some parts of the Kermanshah province. The government media has been speaki

Is Iran’s influence fading in Lebanon and Yemen?

Image
By Heshmat Alavi Recent developments across the region are signaling increasing isolation for Tehran. Despite investing for decades, Lebanon and Yemen are literally slipping out of Iran’s hands. Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri sent shockwaves across the region by announcing his resignation. The recent missile attack by the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen targeting Riyadh crossed a costly red line for Tehran. Turning point in Lebanon In Hariri’s own words, Iran and Hezbollah had literally taken the entire country of Lebanon hostage, making it impossible to carry out his duties. Evidence also revealed an assassination plot threatening his life. Western and Arab intelligence services unveiled how his entourage was targeted, in a blueprint similar to his father’s assassination. “Those who planned to assassinate prime minister Hariri deactivated the observation towers while his motorcade was passing by,”  Reuters wired citing  Al Arabiya . Hostage crisis anniversary reminder of need for change in Iran

Image
BY ALI SAFAVI On Nov. 4, the Iranian regime commemorated the 38th anniversary of the U.S. Embassy takeover in 1979, when dozens of Americans were taken hostage for 444 days. This year, it paraded its ballistic missiles in front of the former U.S. Embassy in Tehran. With chants of "Death to America," the disdain for international norms and the nuclear deal came through loud and clear. But that image does not represent Iran. Today, the average Iranian citizen longs for friendship and mutually beneficial ties with the outside world, particularly the United States. In 1979, it was not only Americans taken hostage by a medieval theocratic order; the Iranian people were also taken hostage and held captive after their democratic revolution was usurped by Khomeini. Decades later, the prospects of change in Iran are closer and more viable than ever. Internal conditions are conducive to a fundamental sociopolitical transformation, and the Iranian people are risi

How Iran Is Losing Europe

Image
By Heshmat Alavi As the United States adopts new strategy vis-à-vis Iran, senior officials in Tehran are desperately seeking a new life-rope. With Obama and his appeasement gone, Iran is also sensing how Europe is distancing. Tehran is also witnessing how developments across the Middle East and the international spectrum are cornering its regime, detecting how all parties will choose to side with its rivals. British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson made a call to Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman condemning the Iran-backed Houthis’ missile launch against Riyadh. In her recent trip to Washington, European Union High Representative Federica Mogherini  expressed  confidence the Iran nuclear deal,  decertified  by U.S. President Donald Trump, would not be killed. Sources in Congress, however, are saying senior Republicans emphasized the deal’s deficiencies and stressed how financial and economic relations established with Iran are endangered,  reports indicate. Iran has fe

Terror Airlines? Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps runs country's largest airline, report says

Image
By Ben Evansky A new report released by an Iranian opposition group claims that Iran’s biggest airline — Mahan Air — is run by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its Qods Force. This force is commanded by notorious Iranian General Qasem Soleimani.   The new report published by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) states that the so-called private airline, Iran’s largest commercial airliner, is anything but commercial, and in fact works as a tool for Iran’s expansionist policies. President Donald Trump sanctioned the IRGC last month for supporting terrorism. The report titled, “An IRGC Qods Force entity operating under the guise of a private company,” stated that one of the most significant findings “was that Mahan Air Corporation does not merely cooperate with the IRGC and the Qods Force, but is wholly owned and controlled by them.” This is the same Qods Force which was sanctioned by the U.S. for providing material support to the Taliban and ot

US WANTS IRAN 'HELD TO ACCOUNT' FOR HOUTHI MISSILE ATTACK ON SAUDI ARABIA

Image
The United States has asked the world to "hold Iran accountable" on Tuesday, after Saudi Arabia accused Tehran of "direct military aggression" after a Yemeni rebel missile attack near Riyadh.Washington's Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley claimed Iran had supplied a missile to the Houthis that was fired into Saudi Arabia in July, and referred to Riyadh's claim that the weapon used on the Saturday strike "may also be of Iranian origin". "By providing these types of weapons to the Houthi militias in Yemen, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is violating two UN resolutions simultaneously," Haley said. "We encourage the United Nations and international partners to take necessary action to hold the Iranian regime accountable for these violations." The comments came after Saudi Arabia's powerful crown prince accused Iran of supplying missiles to the Houthis, which he said "could be considered
