Countering Iran’s Threat, Strategies for Regional Stability

Image
Written by Mahmoud Hakamian Two-minute read On Sunday morning, April 14, the Iranian regime launched an unprecedented attack against Israel, escalating tensions in the Middle East. Despite military experts’ assessments that the attack failed, it underscores  Iran’s role as a focal point  of regional conflict. The October 7th attack sent shockwaves globally. Despite ample evidence implicating the Iranian regime, Western governments dismissed Tehran’s involvement, adhering to a flawed appeasement policy toward the primary state sponsor of terrorism. They disregarded explicit statements from Revolutionary Guards  (IRGC) commanders boasting  about their direct role in the attack. For decades, the Iranian Resistance has urged the international community to adopt a resolute stance against the Iranian regime’s aggression and terrorism. Despite persistent calls, the failed appeasement policy of the West allowed Tehran to escalate its belligerent activities, including financing, arming, train

Iran: Regime Collapse Will Lead the Way to Freedom for the People

Image
By Shahriar Kia Former MEP Struan Stevenson has disputed claims that the collapse of the Iranian regime will cause more problems that what it would solve. For almost forty years, the Iranian regime has been suppressing, oppressing and depriving the people of Iran of their human rights, freedom and democracy. The regime is based on these practices and nothing will change that. Some believe that the Iranian regime needs to be nudged in the right direction in order for change to come to Iran. However, this is completely false. After all, former President Barack Obama gave Iran so many concessions in the belief that it would become more moderate. This never happened. In fact, Obama’s appeasement had the opposite effect – it became emboldened and continued with its anti-America rhetoric. Some have also said that President Hassan Rouhani is more moderate than the other members of the Iranian regime but moderation does not exist. Not one official can be described as truly moderate and

An Unprecedented Rise in the Number of Child Labour in Iran

Image
By Amir Taghati According to a state expert, close to a quarter of Iran’s population are rural residents, and consequently, there is an increasing rate of child labour witnessed as Kolbars (humans used as carriers) and vendors (selling items in the street). According to official government reports, there are nearly 2 million child workers in Iran now, and according to “unofficial reports, 7 million”. According to a report released by the state-run news ILNA (October 13th, 2018), Hadi Shariati labels child work a “very significant issue” and describes that the age gaps observed across child labour is continuing to increase just as fast. Shariati explains: “the crisis witnessed across our country’s economy and education has greatly impacted the livelihood of many families, and consequently, has resulted in many children, even under the school age, resorting to things like garbage collecting, panhandling, and vending”. Economic Violence While warning of the “harsh circums

Iran: Railway Workers Continue Strike

Image
By Mahmoud Hakamian Since the end of last year, the people of Iran have been protesting against the corrupt regime. People were initially protesting against the general issues that affected most of the population such as the Iranian regime’s mismanagement of the country’s economy and resources. However, as time has gone on, the protests have been becoming more and more specific and different sectors of society have been highlighting issues that personally affect them. Most recently, railway workers have been striking. On Saturday 27th October, there were a large number of messages posted on social media with regards to a railway worker strike. The strikes are still continuing. The railway workers have the responsibility of keeping the network running 24/7. The current strike is the third major strike that the railway workers have initiated in the past 6 months. They have held smaller strikes intermittently between the major ones. One of the major grievances of the railway work

Dispute Regarding Trump’s Maximum Pressure Strategy on Iran Regime

Image
By Mohammad Sadat Khansari It was reported last week that there is an internal dispute in the Trump administration with regards to the sanctions on Iran. European leaders have put pressure on the United States to keep Iran in contact with the international marketplace. President Donald Trump and several of his officials have been very clear on the fact that they want to put intense economic pressure on Iran. However, there are several Treasury Department officials that seem to have been influenced by Europe’s stance to keep Iran connected to SWIFT. This is causing a lot of tension and many are keen to keep up with the hard stance towards Iran. Senator Ted Cruz has stepped in with new legislation to ensure that the main sanctions are not bypassed. His legislation would apparently target the board members of SWIFT that are allowing Iran to use the banking system. The SWIFT banking system allows Iran to carry out cross-border transactions and it has been a lifeline for Iran in

Tweets Reveal Mullahs Setting the Stage for Acts of Terrorism Against the Iranian Resistance

Image
Twitter’s release of a portion of tweets by the clerical regime’s cyber machine reaffirmed the Iranian Resistance’s long held position that Iran’s religious fascism is the primary source of hostility and vilification vis-a-vis the National Council of Resistance of Iran ( NCRI ) and the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran  (PMOI/MEK ). The regime views the destruction of the Iranian Resistance as the only way to save itself from the prospect of inevitable overthrow. Tehran’s twitter campaign that took unprecedented proportions in early 2018, immediately after the start of the nationwide uprising, reveals that simultaneous with increased repression inside Iran, the clerical regime is laying the groundwork for acts of terrorism against the Iranian Resistance abroad by dramatically stepping up its campaign of lies and demonization. 1. In September, Twitter closed 770 accounts of the Iranian regime, declaring them false accounts for government propaganda and disseminating fake

Iran: 15 Protesters Sentenced to Flogging and Prison

Image
By Mohammad Sadat Khansari The Iranian Regime has sentenced  15 workers  at the Heavy Equipment Production Company (HEPCO) to prison and flogging for taking part in peaceful protests to demand their unpaid wages and learn the fate of the company in May. Each HEPCO worker was sentenced to one to two years in prison and 74 lashes for “disrupting public order” and “instigating workers via the internet to demonstrate and riot” by the 106th Branch of the Arak Penal Court, according to the ILNA state-run News Agency. The 15 workers have been identified by human rights groups as Majid Latifi, Behrouz Hasanvand, Hamidreza Ahmadi, Amir Houshang Pour Farzanegan, Morteza Azizi, Hadi Fazeli, Abolfazl Karimi, Farid Kodani, Majid Yahyaie, Amir Fatahpour, Yaser Gholi, Amir Farid Afshar, Mehdi Abedi, Ali Maleki, and Berouz Valashajardi. Labour rights activists say that the plight of workers began after HEPCO, a company that makes road construction equipment, was privatized last year. Iran’s F

Iranian propaganda seeks to create discord and influence elections

Image
By Dr. Majid Rafizadeh The 2018 midterm elections in the US will be held in less than two weeks. These elections are critical because many seats in the US House of Representatives and the US Senate, as well as state governorships, will be contested. The results of the midterm elections are important due to the fact they will have an enormous impact on both US domestic and foreign policy for many years to come. As a result, it is crucial that confidence in the democratic process is guaranteed by making sure that free and fair elections are held without the interference of other state and non-state actors. While Russia has grabbed the media spotlight for the part that it may be playing to influence the outcome of the midterms, the Iranian regime’s role has received much less attention. It is important to point out that, in the last few years, Iran has made significant technological advances, which are partially being directed toward affecting the results of elections both domestic

Opportunistic Iran regime supports Al-Qaeda-linked terror group

Image
By Dr. Majid Rafizadeh UN experts have recently shared a report with the organization’s Security Council that describes in detail how the Iranian regime has been cooperating with and assisting an Al-Qaeda-affiliated terror group. The as-yet-unpublished report, which has been seen by the Associated Press, sheds light on a sophisticated process through which the Iranian regime has been facilitating the path for the Al-Qaeda-linked militant group Al-Shabab to circumvent UN sanctions and make millions of dollars of profit every year. The process involves using false Comoros, Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana certificates of origin to import sanctioned Somali charcoal, before repackaging it from typical blue-green bags into white bags labeled as "Product of Iran," according to the report. This development highlights the fact that Iran’s political establishment does not hesitate in assisting terror and militia groups by exploiting the legitimacy granted to it by the UN. In addition, the

The failure of the Iranian regime to withdraw from the blacklist of the FATF

Image
By  Reza Hoseani The FATF meeting on Sunday, October 14-19, in Paris, focused on assessing the progress of the Iranian regime in implementing its organization's standards for combating money laundering and deciding whether or not to hold the name of Iran from the blacklist. The group consists of more than 800 officials from 204 countries, institutions and jurisdictions, including the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and other international organizations to attend the Six-Day Meeting (FATF); At the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), they traveled to Paris. The Financial Action Task Force (FATF); is one of the subsidiary organizations of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, established; international standards; One of its main tasks is to counter money laundering and financing terrorism in the world. The decision of this international organization on the Iranian regime was crucial for the conti

Is the withdrawal of the Iranian regime from the FATF blacklist and the opening of the European Union office in Tehran, is it feasible?

Image
By  Reza Hoseani David Lewis, executive secretary of the FATF Special Operations Group, said there was no guarantee that Iran would leave Iran's blacklist. While the FATF deadline for Iran is over, the clerical regime has not yet decided to join it. This is also due to the fact that the deadline for the second round of sanctions against the Iranian regime is swiftly approaching, but the EU package has not yet been set up. It is worth mentioning that the FATF blacklist and the opening of the European Union office in Tehran have been named by the Khamenei Party « The Human Rights Poison Cup». In fact, the consequence of the poisonous cessation of joining the regime to the FATF is that the clerical regime must immediately stop money laundering and financial support from the terrorists, which means losing one of its two basic foundations and, indeed, its most important leverage in exporting terrorism. Interference in the affairs of the countries of the region. The opening of t
