Countering Iran’s Threat, Strategies for Regional Stability

Image
Written by Mahmoud Hakamian Two-minute read On Sunday morning, April 14, the Iranian regime launched an unprecedented attack against Israel, escalating tensions in the Middle East. Despite military experts’ assessments that the attack failed, it underscores  Iran’s role as a focal point  of regional conflict. The October 7th attack sent shockwaves globally. Despite ample evidence implicating the Iranian regime, Western governments dismissed Tehran’s involvement, adhering to a flawed appeasement policy toward the primary state sponsor of terrorism. They disregarded explicit statements from Revolutionary Guards  (IRGC) commanders boasting  about their direct role in the attack. For decades, the Iranian Resistance has urged the international community to adopt a resolute stance against the Iranian regime’s aggression and terrorism. Despite persistent calls, the failed appeasement policy of the West allowed Tehran to escalate its belligerent activities, including financing, arming, train

Iran: Internal Power Struggle Continues to Divide Regime

Image
Internal Power Struggle Continues between the two factions of the Iranian regime. I draw your attention to the consequences of this in the following article: By Shahriar Kia The Iranian regime is under increasing pressure as internal rifts continue to divide the country’s leadership. U.S. sanctions on Iran and the Trump administration’s decision to impose oil restrictions have led to the already existing divides becoming even more significant and disruptive. When the U.S. State Department announced that it expects all countries to reduce their imports of Iranian oil to zero, there was much debate about how effective the measure would be. However, compliance, for the most part, has been satisfactory and Iran is certainly feeling the pinch. A State Department official announced a few weeks ago that the sanctions have resulted in Iran losing around $10 billion in oil revenue alone. Iran has been forced to look for new economic ties where it can and earlier this month the Iran

Inflation in Iran Now Close to 50 Percent According to New Report

Image
If you want to know more about inflation and business in Iran, you can read this good article By Mahmoud Hakamian Between March 2018 and March 2019, goods and services in Iran became 47.5 percent more expensive, so as the Iranian year ended on March 20th, ordinary Iranians face the price increases of nearly 50 percent of the past 12 months, and wonder what the future will bring. It appears that this is the highest inflation of the past five years, according to a report by the Iran Statistical Center on March 21st. The report also revealed that inflation for food and drinks is at 73.2 percent for the same 12-month period. This is shocking, as working-class families have seen very little increase in the minimum wage, especially in comparison to inflation. The high rate of inflation is primarily due to the devaluation of its currency. The four-fold drop of the rial in relation to the dollar and other major currencies in 12 months means that the import of raw materials for product

Iran: Flooding Worsens and Spreads Further Across Country

Image
For more information on the floods in Iran and its implications, I suggest you a glimpse into a good article from Shahriar Kia. By Shahriar Kia Reports from inside Iran indicate that flooding has occurred in almost all areas of Iran. So far, it seems that only one of Iran’s 31 provinces has been spared the effects of major flooding. The number of casualties is high, with more than 120 dead in the city of Shiraz alone. Reports show that the conditions are horrific, with countless people suffering from a lack of clean water, no electricity and completely uninhabitable residential units. In the southwestern part of the country, water levels are rising at an alarming speed. In the northwestern parts of the country there have been severe flash floods. In Tehran, the country’s capital city, the water levels are rising and the weather organisation has warned that it will most likely be hit by flooding. Already it seems that the water levels are rising and the situation is getti

Floods in Iran Preventions, Consequences and Responsibilities

Image
By  Reza Hoseani After flooding in Golestan province, now the most painful news comes from Shiraz, Khorramabad, Qasrshirin, Abadan and North Khorasan. The gate of the Quran in Shiraz witnessed the destruction of hundreds of cars whose occupants crapped inside them desperately. The number of deaths increases momentarily. The authorities of the Mullah regime in Europe are happy to celebrate the Noruz Holidays and people live in an insurmountable flood. The people of Shiraz have been the victims of a devastating flood. But there is no Mayor of Shiraz The Shiraz prosecutor said that “the flood is due to the negligence of trustees” Forty years of plunder and devastation of the clerical sovereignty The Iranian regime reports at least 17 people died in Shiraz. But Social media reports indicate a high number of fatalities. The people of Iran have the same capacity to deal with natural disasters that our ancestors had in the Stone Age, that is, no! It does not m

IRGC Commander highlights regime’s meddling in region

Image
The interference of the Iranian regime in the affairs of the neighboring countries is unobtrusive To find out more about this, I invite you to read an excellent article by Nikoo Amini By Nikoo Amini The head of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps said that the organization tasked with protecting the regime at all costs, had “organized around 100,000 popular forces” in Syria and Iraq, adding that this and Hezbollah’s “missile capabilities” were just some of the “unrivaled success of the Islamic Revolution”. In a lengthy interview with the state-run Soroush Magazine, excerpts of which were published by Iranian media, Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari cited Iran’s military measures in neighboring countries and said that the regime’s success in the region could not be put into words and should be “felt” instead. Jafari said that Iranians were also sent to neighboring countries to “share their experience” with the regime’s forces there. Recently, the State Department’s spe

Iran Factions Still Divided Over INSTEX

Image
I invite you to read an excellent article by the author and scholar of Iran By Mahmoud Hakamian There is still a great deal of controversy in Iran over the European financial channel - the Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges (INSTEX) - that was designed to help the mullahs evade US sanctions, with opposing political factions calling their rivals “traitor” and “saboteur” for supporting/opposing this move. The fact that Europe will only implement INSTEX after Iran has ratified the necessary financial transparency bills required by the Financial Action Task Force is only intensifying the factional fight over whether to pursue INSTEX. Those in the Rouhani faction want the FATF bills passed and INSTEX implemented in order to shore up an economy plagued by decades of incompetence and corruption on the part of the mullahs. Those in the Khamenei faction are unwilling to save the economy because they fear that the financial transparency will expose what the majority of the

Iran Regime's Major Financial Corruption

Image
Iran's regime is plagued with financial corruption, while the Iranian people suffer from hunger and health  I invite you to read an excellent article in this regard by the author and scholar of Iran,  Shahriar Kia By Shahriar Kia The National Iranian Petrochemical Industries Company (NIPIC) revealed on Wednesday that the Petrochemical Commercial Company (PCC), which is at the centre of a major financial scandal being investigated in Tehran, has failed to return 500 million Euros of its debts since 2013. This contradicts Tehran prosecutor Abbas Jaafari Dolatabadi, who previously claimed that there was no embezzlement and that the suspects had “mishandled funds” of around 4 million Euros’ worth of interest from petrochemicals export. It is worthy of note that since there exists no real justice in the corrupt clerical regime, this kind of courts are indicatives of severe internal feuds and gang fights among rival factions of the regime. There are several PCC managers a

Iran Regime's Space Threat

Image
The threat of the Iranian regime's atmosphere is a problem that can not be ignored I invite you to read a good article in this regard By Sedighe Shahrokhi At the beginning of the year, the Iranian regime made two attempts at satellite launches. However, both failed to reach orbit. The United States objected to the launches for the reason that the technology is the same as that for intercontinental ballistic missiles. The Iran threat is something that President Trump has emphasised time and time again. He will not accept Iran’s belligerence and is repeatedly warning about the danger the regime presents to the region and beyond. The Iran threat is growing as it improves its cyberspace capabilities too. Iran regime’s space program stems from the missile program that started in the eighties. In 2003, the Iranian parliament approved plans for the establishment of the Iranian Space Agency (ISA) and the Supreme Space Council (SSC). The space program was supported by Mahmoud

ROUHANI’S TRIP TO IRAQ RAISES QUESTIONS ABOUT US CONTAINMENT OF IRANIAN INFLUENCE

Image
What goals does the Iranian regime follow from its President Hassan Rouhani's visit to Iraq? I suggest this great article for your reading By Edward Carney Iranian President Hassan Rouhani arrived in Baghdad on Monday for the start of a three-day visit to Iraq, as the two neighboring countries continue to work toward closer economic, political, and security ties. His first round of talks with Iraqi government officials reportedly yielded several preliminary trade deals, as well as plans for a free trade zone along the border, a streamlined process of obtaining visas for business travels, and railway connection between key Iranian and Iraqi cities. The discussions were also characterized by anti-American rhetoric that underscores the escalating tensions between Iran and the US at a time when the Iranian regime is working to expand its influence throughout the surrounding region. Overall media coverage of Rouhani’s trip suggests that the Iranian president was particularly d

IRAN REGIME AND FATF IMPASSE

Image
How does the Iranian regime deal with this issue? Let's take a brief glimpse into this article By Edward Carney Last month, the Islamic Republic of Iran was granted an extension to its deadline for compliance with the anti-money laundering standards laid out by the Paris-based Financial Action Task Force. The expectation of that compliance was expressed in negotiations that led to the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers. And more recently, the European signatories of that deal – the United Kingdom, France, and Germany – indicated that FATF compliance would be a prerequisite for full implementation of a plan to circumvent US sanctions, which came back into force last year after President Donald Trump announced withdrawal from the nuclear agreement. The deadline extension was presumably motivated by the appearance of modest progress in the direction of Iran embracing the FATF provisions. But it remains an open question whether that outcome will actually be rea

IRAN’S CYBER ATTACKS SHOULD BE GIVEN PROPER CONCERN

Image
Iran's cyber-media activities are news that is heard everywhere these days Let me review each other for more information By INU Staff INU- Iran is steadily growing its cyber capabilities, having inflicted hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of damage on 200 companies around the world in just the past two years, and we downplay this at our peril. Following a breach of the Australian parliament, experts pointed the finger at Iran, but other sources claimed that Iran lacked the skills necessary to conduct such a sophisticated operation. This is not true. British intelligence pointed to Iran after a similar attack on the British parliament in 2017, where hackers compromised dozens of lawmakers’ email accounts. The US Intelligence Community concluded in its annual Worldwide Threat Assessment that Iranian hackers are only capable of “causing localized, temporary disruptive effects”, but cautioned about Iran’s “increasingly sophisticated cyber techniques” and that the Reg

Iran’s New Judiciary Head Represents Clear Disregard For Human Rights – OpEd

Image
The Iranian regime has appointed the killer of political prisoners as head of the judiciary to counter the wave of protests and protests and this is an insult to human rights that is necessary for all societies and European countries to condemn it. By Tahar Boumedra This Friday was the official swearing in of Ebrahim Raisi as the head of the federal judiciary in the Islamic Republic of Iran. His predecessor in the position, Sadeq Larijani, was notorious for hardline enforcement measures including systematic denial of due process, and in recent years he has overseen the steady escalation of crackdowns on dissent throughout Iranian society. If history is any indication, Raisi, who was appointed to a five-year term by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, is set to be even worse. There are a number of features of the new judiciary chief’s record that underscore his apparent disregard for human rights and any recognizable principle of justice. But one thing stands out above all others: In 198

Human rights violations on the rise in Iran

Image
The massive violation of human rights in Iran is one of the levers of government's actions in the Iranian regime I would like to draw your attention to the excellent article that  Dr. Majid Rafizadeh has written about this. By Dr. Majid Rafizadeh It is unfortunate that the Iranian regime’s human rights violations are attracting little attention from international media outlets. When President Hassan Rouhani was running for re-election, he famously criticized the human rights situation in the country and promised to improve it. But, since he won the election, the president evades discussing it. Based on the latest developments, a report published by Amnesty International last month indicated that human rights abuses have reached a new high. This is happening while some world leaders and governments continue to label the Iranian president as a moderate political figure. Iran’s Penal Code allows executions to be carried out by many different methods, such as hanging, stoni
