Countering Iran’s Threat, Strategies for Regional Stability

Image
Written by Mahmoud Hakamian Two-minute read On Sunday morning, April 14, the Iranian regime launched an unprecedented attack against Israel, escalating tensions in the Middle East. Despite military experts’ assessments that the attack failed, it underscores  Iran’s role as a focal point  of regional conflict. The October 7th attack sent shockwaves globally. Despite ample evidence implicating the Iranian regime, Western governments dismissed Tehran’s involvement, adhering to a flawed appeasement policy toward the primary state sponsor of terrorism. They disregarded explicit statements from Revolutionary Guards  (IRGC) commanders boasting  about their direct role in the attack. For decades, the Iranian Resistance has urged the international community to adopt a resolute stance against the Iranian regime’s aggression and terrorism. Despite persistent calls, the failed appeasement policy of the West allowed Tehran to escalate its belligerent activities, including financing, arming, train

Europe Should Not Count on the Unstable and Weak Regime in Iran

The following speech Titled: Human Rights in Iran was delivered in Amsterdam, on August 25, 2018 by Dr ALejo Vidal-Quadras, the former Vice- President of the European Parliament and President of the International Committee in Search of Justice (ISJ). Dear Friends, I am very thankful to the Iranian community in Netherlands for organizing this event on the 30th anniversary of the 1988 Massacre in Iran. As it is well known, thirty years ago, more than 30.000 political prisoners were executed in Iran in summer of 1988. Many prisoners were only asked a few questions before being taken to the gallows and buried in mass in unmarked graves. All according to a fatwa, or decree, issued by the Iranian regime founder Ayatollah Khomeini, still in power and alive at that time. As we know this massacre is one of the worst crimes in Iran’s modern history. Until today, no perpetrators have been arrested for this atrocious state-sanctioned crime. On the contrary, many of the known perpetrators w

30th Anniversary of the Massacre of Political Prisoners Commemorated in International Conference of Iranian Communities

Maryam Rajavi urged UN Security Council to prosecute perpetrators of 1988 massacre and those in charge of four decades of crimes in Iran “For three decades, the international community has been silent over the massacre of political prisoners in Iran. As a result, the mullahs have continued with impunity to violate human rights in Iran, crack down on public protests, launch terrorist operations, and wage catastrophic wars in the Middle East and other countries. Now, the time has come to end this silence.” These were part of the remarks made by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, to a conference marking the 30th anniversary of the 30,000 political prisoners massacred in Iran, simultaneously held in 20 major capitals, on Saturday, August 25, 2018. Maryam Rajavi urged the UN Security Council to prepare for the prosecution of the clerical regime’s leaders, those responsible for the 1988 massacre, and the officials in charge of

Iran Regime’s Huge Cyberwar Apparatus Paves Way for Terrorism and Fuels Appeasement

Image
This cyberwar apparatus is run by the IRGC and Ministry of Intelligence, and its aim is to deceive, spread lies, demonize opponents, and prevent the free flow of information. Internet institutions should prevent the regime from infiltrating and misusing their networks The Iranian Resistance welcomes the decision by Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Google to shut down numerous social media accounts and pages run by the religious fascism ruling Iran, and it emphasizes the need to comprehensively confront the regime's Internet terrorism. It calls on social networks and other Internet organizations like Wikipedia to completely clean up their networks from the agents of the mullahs’ regime who used the previous policy of appeasement to infiltrate these networks and misuse their services. Such action is needed to guarantee the free flow of information and the fight against state terrorism, the epicenter of which is the religious fascism ruling Iran. The regime’s massive cyberw

Iran’s hypocritical espionage activities must be stopped

Image
By Dr. Majid Rafizadeh Last week, two Iranians were arrested and  indicted  in the US for allegedly spying for the Iranian regime. The United States Federal Court charged Ahmadreza Mohammadi Doostdar, 38, in Chicago and, Majid Ghorbani, 59, in California.   According to the US  Justice Department , the pair are charged with “knowingly acting as agents of the government of Iran without prior notification to the Attorney General, providing services to Iran in violation of US sanctions, and conspiracy.” Earlier this year, after an investigation by Germany’s domestic  intelligence  agency, the federal prosecutor’s office ordered the German police to carry out raids on properties around the country linked to suspected Iranian spies. Those individuals were strongly believed to have spied on persons and organizations ” on behalf of an intelligence unit associated with Iran.” These developments are intriguing, and at the same time ironic — in the sense that the Iranian authorities rep

Appeasement for profit: Europe’s perilous policy on Iran

Image
By Dr. Majid Rafizadeh Iran’s leaders and the state-owned Persian news outlets have been boasting about Europe’s collegial relationship with the Islamic Republic. Iran proudly praises the EU’s act of defiance against the US. It seems surreal that the EU is taking the side of the ruling mullahs — even agreeing last week to provide €18 million ($20 million) in aid— rather than staying neutral or supporting its old transatlantic partner, who stood by Europe in many challenging circumstances over the past six decades. Nevertheless, from the perspective of the Islamic Republic, one of its core ideological, religious and revolutionary beliefs has finally come true: Tehran has turned global powers against the US, or, as the ruling mullahs would say, the “Great Satan.” Iranian leaders also emphasize that such an opportunity must not go to waste. Instead, from their perspective, the rift between the US and EU must be cemented and finalized. Iran’s Arman newspaper flaunted the headline:

Iran: Families of Dissidents Campaigning for Justice for Decades

Image
By Mohammad Sadat Khansari It has been thirty years since the  1988 massacre  in Iran. Three decades ago, the then Supreme Leader of Iran issued a fatwa ordering the execution of political prisoners. During the space of one single summer, around 30,000 prisoners, most of whom were members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran ( PMOI / MEK ) were killed. The PMOI has been targeted by the Iranian regime for decades. It is clear that the Iranian regime is a major threat to the existence of the regime even though it has spent years denying this. The 1988 massacre was a tragedy. A crime against humanity and a horrific violation of human rights. The perpetrators of this crime, instead of being punished, have risen through the ranks of the regime and enjoyed impunity for all these years. We know who the perpetrators of the crime are and it is sickening to know that they have occupied positions such as the Justice Minister. The irony in this would almost be laughable if the c

Iran Regime Boasts About Its Military Power That Experts Say Is Underwhelming

Image
By Amir Taghati Earlier this week, Iranian regime unveiled what it described as its first ever domestic fighter jet. Regime’s president Hassan Rouhani said that one of the main goals is to deter the United States. Rouhani attended the “National Defence Industry” show in the country’s capital Tehran. He was filmed posing in the cockpit of the jet. State media outlets said that the jet has a multi-purpose radar and boasted that it has “advanced avionics”. Speaking about its use for deterrent purposes, Rouhani said: “The enemy should see how expensive an invasion of Iran would be. Why does not the US wage a military attack on us? Because of our power.” The Iranian state media outlet also said that the “Kowsar” – a river in paradise in the Islamic faith and the title of one of the Koran’s chapter’s – is a fourth-generation fighter jet. The regime is also claiming that it is “100 per cent indigenously made”. Tamsin news Agency said in a message on Twitter that the country’s “first

Iran Regime’s Factional Feud, over Twitter Ban

Image
By Mahmoud Hakamian In a recent letter to Iran’s Attorney-General, Mohammad-Jafar Montazeri, 8 members of the WGCDICC (i.e., the Working Group for Determining Instances of Criminal Content; which is an organisation that makes decisions relating the filtering of Iran’s cyberspace) called for a review on Twitter ban. Montazeri replied to their letter saying: “(Twitter) has been filtered according to a judicial order; there’s nothing that the WGCDICC can do about this”. Montazeri even went on to call them criminals: “6 cabinet ministers wrote to me to discuss lifting the ban from certain channels (Twitter) in a meeting; I didn’t attend the meeting, because if I did, I would have been an accomplice to a crime”. After Montazeri’s rejection of their request, the regime’s Ministry of Information penned another letter to him in which he declared his “legal reasonings” to Montazeri, asking him to give WGCDICC another chance. This time, Montazeri’s deputy jumped in and replied in a rath

Iran Regime Arrests Family Members of the Victims of 1988 Massacre in Fear of Justice-Seeking Movement

Simultaneous with the anniversary of the massacre of political prisoners in 1988, and while the nationwide uprising continues, the ruling religious fascism in Iran, in fear of the rise in Justice-Seeking Movement, has arrested a number of families of these martyrs. In an instance in Gorgan, a number of family members of martyr Mohsen Mehrani, including Dr. Mojtaba Mehrani, dentist and 67 years old, Masih Mehrani, 62, and ladies Sousan Mehrani, 55, Mohaddaseh Mehrani, 50, and Elnaz, 28, (daughter of Mohaddaseh Mehrani), were arrested on July 19, 2018. There is no news about the detainees. Mohsen Mehrani was executed in 1988 during the massacre of political prisoners in Gorgan prison. Iranian Resistance calls on all the people, especially the brave youth, to protest these arrests and show support and solidarity with the prisoners of the uprising. It also asks the Security Council, the Secretary-General, the Human Rights Council and the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and oth

Could Iran’s military deliver on leaders’ warmongering?

By Dr. Majid Rafizadeh Issuing threats of war is not an uncommon phenomenon in the context of the Iranian regime’s political discourse. But, recently, Iranian leaders have escalated their heated rhetoric to an unprecedented level and threatened the US with war. In fact, Iranian authorities also  warned  that the “world would unite” to force the US to change its policies. Iran’s state-owned media outlets have been spreading the same narrative. For example, Ali Reza Farqani, the editor-in-chief of Iran’s Arman newspaper and a former prime minister, who previously  warned  of mass kidnappings and the killing of US citizens, as well as the rape and killing of one of the daughters of former US President Barack Obama,  emphasized  in a recent editorial that Iran “needs a foreign war” and that “war is a blessing.” The latter is a phrase well known in Iranian politics as it was used by former Supreme Leader Ruhollah Khomeini. It is not just the hard-liners who robustly support Supreme L
