Countering Iran’s Threat, Strategies for Regional Stability

Image
Written by Mahmoud Hakamian Two-minute read On Sunday morning, April 14, the Iranian regime launched an unprecedented attack against Israel, escalating tensions in the Middle East. Despite military experts’ assessments that the attack failed, it underscores  Iran’s role as a focal point  of regional conflict. The October 7th attack sent shockwaves globally. Despite ample evidence implicating the Iranian regime, Western governments dismissed Tehran’s involvement, adhering to a flawed appeasement policy toward the primary state sponsor of terrorism. They disregarded explicit statements from Revolutionary Guards  (IRGC) commanders boasting  about their direct role in the attack. For decades, the Iranian Resistance has urged the international community to adopt a resolute stance against the Iranian regime’s aggression and terrorism. Despite persistent calls, the failed appeasement policy of the West allowed Tehran to escalate its belligerent activities, including financing, arming, train

Bolton Isn't the Problem, Iranian Mullahs Are

Iran Focus London, 30 Mar - There are some people who are greatly concerned about Donald Trump’s appointment of John Bolton as his new national security advisor, including the former top Obama officials who now run the National Security Action group. The group is chaired by Ben Rhodes, a top Obama adviser who has now admitted to creating an “echo chamber” of lies, distortions and spin to promote the Iran nuclear deal, and Jake Sullivan, who likely would have served as national security adviser in Hillary Clinton’s cabinet. Recently, National Security Action tweeted: “ John Bolton  is at the nexus of Russia's interference in our democracy and the NRA's reckless agenda. It's time to delve deeper into the web of connections among Bolton, Russia, and the NRA.” To be clear, there’s no evidence that Bolton helped Russia hack the US 2016 elections. According to Seth Mandel at the New York Post, the only Bolton-Russia link is the fact that he once recorded a pro-gun

Uncertainty Over Iran Nuclear Deal Can Be Used as Leverage

in Share Iran Focus London, 31 Mar - Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s high-profile visit to the White House is significant because his discussions with US President Trump were tied to the upcoming quarterly deadline to assess whether Tehran is complying with the Iran nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Trump made his opposition to the JCPOA a central position in his presidential campaign, and it is uncertain whether the US will pull out of the agreement. Following the Crown Prince’s visit, in a move that received widespread international condemnation, Yemen’s Houthi militia launched seven ballistic missiles targeting civilian areas in Saudi Arabia. In Washington, the attacks are viewed as an Iranian attempt to escalate the war in Yemen as part of a strategic effort to undermine the growing US-Saudi relationship. Trump’s recent appointment of John Bolton as his national security adviser and Mike Pompeo as secretary of state

Bolton May Be the Only Way to Prevent War With Iran

NCRI Staff NCRI - Donald Trump’s appointment of former US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton as national security advisor has been the subject of much criticism recently because many believe that Bolton will put Trump on a path to war with Iran. Those people are missing one important fact: Iran is already at war with the West. In fact, by causing so much conflict across the Middle East (i.e. Yemen, Iraq, and Syria), Iran is already jeopardising American security interests. So it makes sense for the US to send a strong message to Iran about their nuclear pursuits and other malign activities to actually reduce the likelihood of another American war in the Middle East. That is Bolton’s appointment does. If you don’t want an all-out war with Iran, then you need to support Bolton’s appointment as the White House attempts to confront Iran’s destabilisation of the Middle East. After all, the current assertiveness of the US has already given small victories. For example, there hav

HOW THE SHAH TRIED TO EXTERMINATE THE MEK

Image
by Mahmood Hakamian  This article is exploring what happened to the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran  (PMOI/MEK ) during the 1979 Iranian Revolution. In this part, we will cover how the Shah tried and failed to crush the MEK in the lead up to the Revolution. Starting in 1971, the MEK was arrested on masse by the Shah’s secret police, SAVAK. This had already happened to many other political groups opposed to the monarchy, but the MEK had only just begun to launch their crusade against the monarchy after being founded in 1965 and flying under the radar while they formulated their plans for the removal of the Shah. The MEK believed that they would continue the work of the revolutions from the earlier part of the 20 th  Century, like the 1906 Constitutional Revolution and the 1950 Mossadeq national movement, and bring freedom and democracy to Iran with the removal of the monarchy. Executions and imprisonments Around 150 members of the MEK, including all of the cen

in Share By Jubin Katiraie In this short series, we will explore what happened to the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) during the 1979 Iranian Revolution. This first part will explore how the MEK were treated by the Shah throughout the 1970s until he left Iran in 1979. In the years prior to the 1979 Iranian Revolution, political groups opposed to the Shah were rounded up and arrested by SAVAK, the Shah's secret police. This included the MEK, which had been founded in 1965 and was not fully operational by the time the arrests started in 1971 because the MEK members were taking their time to formulate their strategy and goals in order to find a way to overthrow the Shah that would work. Executions The MEK believed that the overthrow of the Shah was a continuation of the political movements that had come before them, including the 1906 Constitutional Revolution and the 1950 Mossadeq national movement, and necessary to restore freedom to Iran.
