Countering Iran’s Threat, Strategies for Regional Stability

Written by Mahmoud Hakamian Two-minute read On Sunday morning, April 14, the Iranian regime launched an unprecedented attack against Israel, escalating tensions in the Middle East. Despite military experts’ assessments that the attack failed, it underscores  Iran’s role as a focal point  of regional conflict. The October 7th attack sent shockwaves globally. Despite ample evidence implicating the Iranian regime, Western governments dismissed Tehran’s involvement, adhering to a flawed appeasement policy toward the primary state sponsor of terrorism. They disregarded explicit statements from Revolutionary Guards  (IRGC) commanders boasting  about their direct role in the attack. For decades, the Iranian Resistance has urged the international community to adopt a resolute stance against the Iranian regime’s aggression and terrorism. Despite persistent calls, the failed appeasement policy of the West allowed Tehran to escalate its belligerent activities, including financing, arming, train

Iran Regime Boasts About Its Military Power That Experts Say Is Underwhelming

By Amir Taghati
Earlier this week, Iranian regime unveiled what it described as its first ever domestic fighter jet. Regime’s president Hassan Rouhani said that one of the main goals is to deter the United States.
Rouhani attended the “National Defence Industry” show in the country’s capital Tehran. He was filmed posing in the cockpit of the jet. State media outlets said that the jet has a multi-purpose radar and boasted that it has “advanced avionics”. Speaking about its use for deterrent purposes, Rouhani said: “The enemy should see how expensive an invasion of Iran would be. Why does not the US wage a military attack on us? Because of our power.”

The Iranian state media outlet also said that the “Kowsar” – a river in paradise in the Islamic faith and the title of one of the Koran’s chapter’s – is a fourth-generation fighter jet. The regime is also claiming that it is “100 per cent indigenously made”.
Tamsin news Agency said in a message on Twitter that the country’s “first state-of-the-art” fighter jet was “designed and manufactured by domestic military experts”.

Iranian Regime has a history of boasting about its military capabilities, but experts have refuted Iran’s actual capability as over-inflated and false. For example, in 2013, regime unveiled a supposedly new and Iranian built fighter jet – the Qaher 313. Many experts at the time said that Iran was exaggerating its capabilities and said that it was simply not viable.
The country’s air force is very limited and it is believed that there are as little as ten or so strike aircrafts. Most of these are either old US or Russian models that were acquired decades ago.
Iran feels the need to boast about its military power in the hope that other countries will believe that it actually has strength. It is doing this because it is in an extreme position of weakness as it faces pressure from the international community as well as its own people.
US President Donald Trump recently claimed that he would be willing to meet with the Iranian President to discuss how to move forward. As it stands, Iran is becoming more and more isolated in the world, especially now that US economic sanctions are imposing harsh restrictions on trade with Iran. Many countries do not want to risk getting caught in the crosshairs of US sanctions and have simply pulled out of all business dealings with Iran.
The domestic pressure is also peaking. The people of Iran are continuing to take to the streets to protest against the corrupt leadership that is destroying the country.
Regime’s Defence Minister Amir Hatami publicly announced the new fighter jet last Saturday during a televised interview. He said that the country’s defence program bears in mind the missile attacks that Iran was hit with during the war with Iraq. He also said that it has taken into account the threats from the US that no options have been ruled out with regards to dealing with Iran. However, he did not give any specifics about the program.
